Host your Gathering

A Family Reunion, Celebration of a Life Milestone, or Gathering of Friends at Casa Paloma

Imagine gathering for a few days with six to sixteen of your favorite people—family, or friends—with all the hassle of organizing and taking care of the details handled by someone other than you.

From the moment you and your guests arrive in Guatemala, we’ve got you covered, with a private car or shuttle bus to bring you to the lakeside town of Panajachel and—from there— a private boat to bring you across the lake to our private dock on our own private bay.

At Casa Paloma, we can provide luxurious accommodations and private bathrooms for as many as 14 single guests or 9 couples (with extra beds for one or two singles)—with all your transportation needs, meals, drinks, and activities arranged in advance by our highly experienced Retreats Coordinator, Tim.

Ask us to tell you about optional extras including a custom made robe for each of your guests or woolen shawl for cool evenings.

Step off the private boat we arrange for you onto our dock to a pitcher of margaritas and pizza from our wood fired oven.

Over the days you choose to stay with us, our staff will handle your luggage, light the sauna, set out the kayaks, and even arrange for live music or a DJ or put on a fireworks display if you choose.

Gather on our candle-lit dining terrace under the stars, looking out to the lake to share extraordinary meals, beautifully presented and served by our talented kitchen team with no worries about clean-up. Soak in our seven-person jacuzzi. Wake to the sound of birdsongs and the smell of freshly brewed locally grown and roasted coffee and a fabulous breakfast of fresh-baked bread, tortillas, golden eggs, freshly squeezed fruit juice. You won’t want to leave. The good news is: you can come back.

Delicious Meals by Rosa

Our base-price meals are all vegetarian and all delicious, fresh and healthy—prepared with locally-grown produce and herbs and beautifully presented by our wonderful local chef, Rosa Maribel Navichoc and her team, Gaby and Alex.

Rosa can provide three meals daily, also sunset snacks and mid-morning fruit as well as coffee/tea and her signature natural fruit drinks prepared fresh every day.

Rosa is experienced at providing gluten free options and adapting to food allergies.  All shopping and clean-up is also included.

Rosa offers an all-vegetarian option, or -–for an additional price—fish, chicken and meat dishes as well. Platters of fruit and appetizers will be set out throughout the day. For your group’s departure morning, she’ll have tamales to carry on the trip. See a sample menu of Rosa’s cooking here.

Casa Paloma could be my favorite place on the planet. The cabins are gorgeous with the perfect balance of rustic and luxury. The views from every spot (yoga studio, breakfast table, meeting room, and bedrooms) is breathtaking.

I love waking up to the volcanos and the lake. Rosa, the chef, along with her assistants, nourish not only the body but also the soul. Each time I leave, my heart has been pried open and filled with love. It may sound hokey, but staying at Casa Paloma is magical.”

At Casa Paloma, we’ve hosted a wide variety of travelers: yoga retreats, writers’ retreats, a gathering of teenagers come to do community service and explore Mayan culture, family reunions, girlfriend gatherings, a post-wedding celebration, and more.

Our retreat manager, Tim—working with our experienced staff, working with longtime owner Joyce—will be happy to help you create a unique gathering tailored to your own particular needs as well as your dreams.

We can’t wait to introduce you to Lake Atitlan and to the people who have made Casa Paloma such a magical place. There may be no better way to tell you how our guests feel about their time with us than this: so many of them come back to visit again. And again.

We like to think that one of the things that sets Casa Paloma aside from your typical hotel or retreat center is the way we’ve chosen to fill every room and casita with examples of the extraordinary rich craftsmanship of local artisans.  For more than twenty years, owner Joyce Maynard has been collecting art, textiles, ceramics, wood carvings and art work from all over Guatemala.

Every room on the property is filled with treasures she’s assembled. From the plates you’ll dine on to the stone carvings set into the walls to the antique wooden church rescued from a remote village and the hand-carved owls tucked into hidden corners, Casa Paloma showcases the rich heritage of ancient Mayan crafts, and creating new forms.
